A new academic year has begun at the Institute of Venture Building (IVB), bringing with it a new cohort, fresh ideas, and the excitement of what the next three years could hold.

For The CareerTrek Company, this beginning is especially meaningful as we enter our third consecutive year with IVB and welcome 90+ young minds to the newest cohort. Each student arrives with their own interests, ambitions, and ideas, and over the next three years, they will have the opportunity to explore what it truly means to think and act like an entrepreneur. 

The journey began with Orientation Day 3.0, setting the tone for everything that lies ahead.

Building Career Skills Beyond the Classroom

Setting the Stage for What Comes Next

Orientation Day brought together guest addresses, insightful panel discussions, faculty introductions, programme orientation, and conversations that gave students their first glimpse into the IVB experience.

More than introducing a curriculum, the day introduced a way of learning that encourages students to stay curious, ask questions, work with different people, experiment with ideas, and learn through experience.

Because entrepreneurship cannot be understood from the sidelines. At some point, you have to start building.

Learning Entrepreneurship by Doing

At The CareerTrek Company, our approach to entrepreneurship education has always been rooted in a simple philosophy: explore, experiment, build, fail, learn, and build again. 

Students will experience different dimensions of creating a business by engaging with practitioners, solving real-world challenges, testing ideas, collaborating in teams, and learning what happens when an idea meets the realities of execution. 

Some ideas will work. Others will need to be questioned, changed, or started again. That is part of becoming an entrepreneur. 

The aim is not to present entrepreneurship as a perfect formula, but to help students become comfortable with uncertainty, take ownership, learn from setbacks, and develop the confidence to keep moving forward. 

90+ Young Minds, Countless Possibilities

No two students entering this cohort will follow exactly the same path. For some, IVB may lead to their first venture. 

Others may discover strengths in product, technology, sales, finance, marketing, design, or leadership. Some may find themselves solving problems they have not even encountered yet. 

What connects them is the opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial mindset: to notice problems, question assumptions, create opportunities, take action, and learn from what follows. 

And perhaps, somewhere along the way, some of these 90+ young minds will take the leap from having an idea to becoming founders themselves.

Chapter 3: Go Beyond the Orbit

As Chapter 3 at IVB begins, these students are not starting from zero. They arrive with a foundation shaped by their families, schools, experiences, and aspirations. What comes next is about building on that foundation, discovering what they are capable of, and finding the confidence to take their ambitions further.

That spirit was captured beautifully at the beginning of the new cohort:

“We believe the foundation has already been beautifully laid by the parents; now, it is up to these young minds to dream bigger, aim higher, and go beyond the orbit.”

For The CareerTrek Company, Chapter 3 is about continuing what we set out to do at IVB: create an environment where young minds can experiment freely, learn from experience, and discover what they are capable of building. As this new cohort begins its journey, we look forward to seeing their ideas take shape and supporting them as they grow from learners into confident builders and entrepreneurs.
